Husky tour to the Arctic Circle
Exclusive tour with your own husky team
Crossing the Arctic Circle is on many wish lists. But crossing it with a dog sled - that's not something you do every day! Come with us on a 4-day husky tour with overnight stays in rustic wilderness huts - one of them right on the Arctic Circle - and create memories for life!
Itinerary of the husky tour to the Arctic Circle
Day 1 - Welcome to Swedish Lapland
From the airport in Luleå, you'll be transferred to Sörbyn Lodge in about an hour's drive. A cozy room and a 2-course meal for dinner await you here.
Day 2 - Snowshoe hike with huskies
After breakfast, you will be picked up and taken to the Winterdog farm, which is only 10 minutes away. Here you will be greeted with the cheerful barking of around 20 huskies. After getting to know the dogs and gearing up with the right winter clothing, you will first set off into the winter landscape with one dog each. With snowshoes and a belly belt to which a husky is attached, you will discover the wonderful scenery. Afterwards, you will discuss the program for the next few days with your guide over a Swedish "Fika" (sweet pastries and coffee)
Day 3 - 6 - Husky tour to the Arctic Circle
After breakfast, you will leave the comfort of the lodge. You can leave any luggage that you do not want to take with you on the husky tour here. Your guide will pick you up for the start of the 4-day husky tour.
First, there will be a detailed introduction to the art of "mushing". The equipment will be stowed in the sleds and then you will glide out on the sled runners into the adventure. The route leads North through a slightly hilly landscape through forests and over frozen lakes and moors.
There will be an outdoor lunch and snacks for the dogs along the way. In the afternoon you reach your first destination - a very cozy wilderness hut. On arrival, the dogs are looked after first before the two-legged friends make themselves comfortable. Depending on which hut you head for, there is a soothing sauna in the evening.
There is no light pollution out here and when it is clear, there is an amazing starry sky and the northern lights can also be seen perfectly when they are active. In the morning, the dogs are looked after first and then there is a strengthening breakfast before you continue on silent paws through the white winter world.
Today's destination is a special one - the Arctic Circle. In the middle of nowhere, a portal marks this famous landmark, which you cross with your dog sled. What a photo opportunity! You spend the night in a wilderness hut right on the Arctic Circle.
Heading south, you take a different route in two more day stages through beautiful countryside. On the afternoon of the 4th day, you reach the Winterdog farm and say goodbye to your new two- and four-legged friends.
Transfer back to Sörbyn Lodge, check-in and 2-course dinner.
