Husky expedition for adventurers

Cabin or tent tour in northern Sweden's majestic mountainous landscape

Above the tree line, the landscape of northern Sweden enchants with its sheer endless expanse. Pointed mountain tops tower dramatically out of the snow-covered landscape and the rapidly changing weather in the mountains gives every tour a special expedition character. Escape from civilization for a few days and enjoy the feeling of peace and freedom in nature.

Itinerary of the husky week for beginners

Day 1 - Welcome to Swedish Lapland

Around 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, in Kiruna, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to the husky camp. At dinner together, you will get to know your guide and the other tour participants and get in the mood for the adventures of the next few days.

Day 2 - Start of the tour

After breakfast you will receive an introduction to handling the dogs and the sled. Each participant leads his own team with 4 - 5 sled dogs in the next few days. Before you get on the runners, however, all the dogs and sleds are first loaded safely and you drive about 30 - 60 minutes to the starting point of the tour. Once there, the dogs are harnessed and the excitement rises - in dogs and people. But as soon as the snow anchors are loosened and the dogs are allowed to run, things calm down and you will soon become one with your team and the fascinating winter landscape.

In the afternoon you will reach your destination for the day. If you have opted for the hut tour, tasks such as fetching water, chopping wood, heating up the sauna and cooking are on the program upon arrival at the hut.

During the tent expedition, the days start a little earlier and the camp is set up at a different location every day. All participants lend a hand. Drilling a hole in the frozen lake, fetching water, feeding the dogs, pitching tents. Teamwork is an important part of a successful expedition.

Day 3 - 6 - Husky tour along the Kungsleden

Dramatic mountain formations, fascinating mood lighting and the almost endless expanse of the landscape will amaze you again and again during the tour. Often no trails are recognizable and you have the feeling of being the only people in this gigantic winter world. A wonderful experience that you will surely remember for a long time.

The exact route depends on the weather and snow conditions. On the hut tour, you drive to a different mountain station or mountain hut every day, which you reach in the course of the afternoon. The evenings are spent in cozy company in the huts. A sauna is available approximately every second day. Before going to bed, it is always worth taking a look at the sky, because a mystical polar light might appear.

The route of the tented expedition is even more dependent on the weather and snow conditions. The camp is usually set up in particularly beautiful places in the middle of the snowy landscape. Here you can experience arctic nature up close. If possible, set up camp at least once at one of the mountain stations, where you can enjoy a soothing sauna. In extreme weather conditions, there is also the option of spending the night in a hut.

Day 7 - Back to the husky camp

The last section of the route takes you back through a varied landscape to the base camp. A delicious dinner in good company awaits you here. Let your last evening in the north end comfortably. There are certainly many stories to tell.

Day 8 - Goodbye

Today it's time to say goodbye to new two- and four-legged friends. After a last breakfast together, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight. This adventure will surely remain in your memory for a long time!
